Join A Plant Society!

Now, before you close this page, listen to a few things I have to say! Plant societies are not populated by boring groups of know-it-alls. They are not bluenoses. The people who join these societies come from all walks of life, and the bulk of them are like any group of people you already know. All types can be found in a plant society.

The beauty of belonging to a plant society is that you have a ready resource of information available to you from other folks just like yourself: People with a passion for a certain plant. These people have devoted a lot of time in learning about their beloved plant and care enough about it that they have joined a plant society. Theirs is a love affair. These people will gladly help anybody out who needs advice and the resources that they are privy to are simply phenomenal.

Typically, when you join a plant society, you will receive all sorts of goodies. Usually there is a newsletter or magazine, and often there are local or regional chapters to boot. Sometimes there are local meetings, but generally there is no pressure for the member to attend local meetings.

Often new varieties of your favorite plants can be purchased through a plant society. Other perks include plant swaps, listings of retailers and for the truly sociable members, there are often regional and national conventions and trips sponsored by the society to public gardens and plant shows.
